here, for now

هُنا.. إِلَى حِين, with hasan shehab, ongoing

“هُنا.. إِلَى حِين” is an ongoing photography project i’m working on with my cousin, hasan shehab. the project looks at written traces found in public spaces. these include graffiti and fragments of text left on walls & banners.

many forms of writing in public space are regularly erased or painted over, often because of political or social reasons. others remain briefly, simply because they pass unnoticed.

the work explores self expression, yearning, advice, idioms, scripture and more.

none of these messages are permanent. over time, they fade, the spaces change, and the writing is lost. the project exists as a record of something that was present only briefly. something only here, for now.
